Term or semester 1 was the introductory session to the course so there was a great deal of lessons on the crew hierarchy, roles and structure of the film industry and how production development works in the real world.
The practical sides covered hand drafting of sets, props, and details with drawing boards and drafting tools and was taught by Art Director veterans: Heather Nobel, Fleur Whitlock and our main tutor was Renate Nicholaisen during this time.
You can see there IMDB links below showing their film making credit histories.
We also developed white card model skills for set design concepts made from foam board and card utilising the drafting skills as well as how to recce a location from which to build said drafts and models.
In the first few models I was incorporating joints and reinforcement which whilst making the models stronger did slow things down and lower the aesthetics. I have know learned better methods which can be seen with my miniature model making skills.

Note I have also attended the Creative Media Skills Prop 1 week Making Essentials and Miniature Model Making courses which covered more techniques separately including:
3D creative design work carried out and learned at Creative Media Skills art department training centre at Pinewood Studios in 2017.
This was a 1 week intensive course at Creative Media Skills covering a wide variety of prop making techniques tutored by Leigh and Lauren Took from Mattes & Miniatures Visual Effects Limited.
