Semester 2 Intro


Term or Semester 2 of my UAL Professional Diploma for Art Departments covered various prop making techniques & projects which included :

  • Balsa wood carving
  • Silicon 1-Part Box and 2-Part Moulds
  • Alginate Body Casting
  • Airbrush and Spray-Painting Techniques
  • Various Tools including:
  • Chop/Mitre saws
  • Finn Multi-Master Oscillating Multitools,
  • Various Painting Techniques
  • Texturing
  • Distressing Techniques
  • Taught Myself Basic Electronics for the Star Wars Project
  • Use of Mobile Phones for Animation Screens
  • Fast Cast Resin Casting
  • Use of Metallic powders for cold casting metallic Resin and metallic Finishes
  • I additionally learned the basics of prosthetic silicon casting from the other courses SFX expert
  • Scale Size Up and Down props
  • Transfers and Decals


My major prop project was a mobile control system pop set in the Star Wars Universe.
